Graduate development

The Graduate program provides full time employment for university graduates.

If you are graduating this year or have graduated within the last 3 years, you could be eligible for this opportunity.

As a graduate, you are placed in a NT Government agency where you are rotated through work units and projects that are relevant to your field of study.

You will receive

  • Annual salary $71,746.
  • Determination 9 of 2023 - Employment and rate of pay for graduate trainees on the OCPE website PDF (667.2 KB).
  • 12 to 24 months employment.
  • Hands on work experience in a government department with opportunities for rotations.
  • Structured training and development plan to support your professional growth.
  • Mentoring and support.
  • Apply skills learnt from your study course.
  • Build on your research, analytical and administrative skills.
  • Build professional networks.
  • Work alongside subject matter experts.

After successful completion, you have opportunities for employment with the NT Government.

Program dates

This program annually commences in January.

Applications open 12 February 2024 to 5 April 2024 (commence in the program in January 2025).

Who can apply

  • Completed degree within the last 3 years, or due to complete prior to commencing the program.
  • Completed degree at a recognised Australian university or institute.
  • Australian citizen/resident or visa holder with Australian appropriate working rights or visa to state working rights in Australia.
  • Must detail your intent for bridging or graduate visas, if you hold a student visa at time of applying.

  • your resume with 2 current referees
  • your most recent Australian university results and a copy of your degree (if you have already graduated)
  • proof of an appropriate visa (if you're not a permanent resident or Australian citizen)
  • if you're on a student visa, you will need to provide details of any bridging or graduate visas that are pending
  • a statutory declaration (if you're eligible under special measures) - read more on the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment website.
