The Aboriginal Employment Program provided Jesse a pathway to employment and the opportunity to gain certified qualifications while also juggling being a single parent.
Jesse gained ongoing employment at Territory Families, Housing and Communities and has since achieved a promotion opportunity at the Department of Health.
Jesse experienced a variety of opportunities and skills development including:
- participating in a Youth Panel for the NTPS Aboriginal Employee Forum
- gaining confidence in public speaking.
Jesse’s advice to those considering applying:
“The Aboriginal Employment Program is hands down one of the most rewarding, supported and beneficial programs I have had the honour to participate in.
“Do not be afraid to do new things. New challenges come with better rewards.”
“I completed my Certificate II in Business with other like-minded people who were trying to better themselves. During the whole program we were supported by Kavette and her amazing team to keep us on track and provide support. I am now a more confident person.”
