The Graduate Development Program gave Eliza the opportunity and support to work in the field she graduated in and is most passionate about – the ocean – and led to ongoing employment overseeing Mud Crab and Spanish Mackerel Fisheries.
At the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (DITT), Eliza had the opportunity to gain broad experience across the many facets and teams within NT Fisheries and working in a government setting.
Eliza experienced a variety of opportunities and skills development as a graduate including:
- working with industry including commercial fishers, researchers and committee representatives
- developing a resource that will assist commercial fishers identify protected species
- completing an Ecological Risk Assessment for the Trepang Fishery
- and supporting colleagues in the development of an electronic logbook.
